Incoming Border Czar Tom Homan’s recent trip to Chicago received widespread attention from the media on Monday. However, The Gateway Pundit has direct access to sources inside closed-door meetings with Chicago officials and Homan.
On Monday December 9th, Terry Newsome of Behind Enemy Lines brokered closed-door meetings between Homan and high-level DEMOCRAT politicians, including Alderman Raymond Lopez. Additionally, on hand were union members, law enforcement officials, other Democrat politicians (who wish to remain anonymous), and prominent figures in the African American and Latino communities.
As The Gateway Pundit reported, Homan has promised to prosecute Mayor Brandon Johnson if he stands in the way of Federal law enforcement activities to deport illegal aliens. According to Newsome, the closed-door meeting was “collaborative.”
The goal is to work with the federal government, not against it, as it pertains to removing dangerous criminals from neighborhoods. Newsome describes Homan’s approach as, “focused with an emphasis on safety.” Homan’s concern is that the City is detaining criminals only to release them back into the general population where they will re-congregate with other known criminals and illegal immigrants.
Safety is a concern for all parties involved if the City does not detain and hold illegals after committing crimes. It would mean that Homan’s personnel would have to engage illegals in public to detain and remove them. This approach would obviously endanger the Federal personnel, Chicago law enforcement, the illegal immigrants themselves, and civilians in proximity to the illegal immigrants.
Illinois has exacerbated the issue with a soft on crime approach after passing the Safe-T Act in the middle of the night in February of 2021. Going into effect in September of 2023 crime has risen considerably with the loss of the deterrence of cash bail. This includes the ability to hold illegal immigrants for certain violent crimes.
In the X post below, Newsome films Homan, among others following the meeting at O’Hare International Airport. Fascinatingly, Newsome films Homan following him down a causeway before confirming with a security officer that illegal immigrants are still being flown into Chicago.

In January of 2024, Ben Bergquam of Real America’s Voice filmed the very same causeway filled with illegal immigrants. Bergquam has collaborated with Newsome on other investigative reporting regarding the immigration crisis in Chicago. This includes The Gateway Pundit’s exclusive story on widespread crime in immigrant facilities as well as the presence of the transnational criminal gang, Tren de Aragua in the Chicago area.

Newsome has been active for the last year after his podcast, Behind Enemy Lines, started. His citizen journalism approach has been to FOIA the City of Chicago regarding the immigration crisis. His reporting has uncovered widespread immigrant crime. Most egregious, Newsome found collusion between Catholic Charities, FEMA, The White House, Congressional Democrats and the City of Chicago to siphon funds from the taxpayer and house illegals while Chicagoans suffer.
At the time of this high profile meeting with Tom Homan and high level Chicago officials, Newsome has also initiated a petition process to remove Illinois and Chicago’s Sanctuary status. There are two separate petitions.
Newsome has worked with former State of Illinois attorney and author, David Shestokas, to draw up the petitions. Shestokas, notably, has represented Pastor Stephen Lee in President Trump’s Georgia RICO case. See an image of the State of Illinois petition below.
Incredibly, the issue has seen a prominent Chicago Democrat express bipartisan support for the Trump plan. On December 10th Chicago Alderman Raymond Lopez joined Newsome on Emerald Robinson’s show, “The Absolute Truth.” Robinson, a former White House correspondent regularly welcomes Newsome on her show.

In the clip, Alderman Lopez expresses genuine concern for his constituents taking time in between current City of Chicago budget negotiation meetings to be on the show. Lopez explains that Mayor Brandon Johnson has decided that the immigrants will now be categorized as homeless so that they can enter into, “new contracts with new providers,” in order to extort more money from taxpayers.
Robinson, points out the good faith perspective of Lopez during the interview asking whether or not Lopez planned a future mayoral run. Lopez maintains his view that the Democrats need to listen, and adapt their platform. In an unprecedented admission, Lopez asserts that if President Trump had any GOP support in Illinois he would have won its 19 electoral votes.
By hook or crook the tide is turning in Illinois. The fact that citizen journalism is having such a prescient impact should be acknowledged. As has been stated outright by President Trump himself, we are entering a Golden Age.
