Another day, another explosive development in the high-profile trial of disgraced rap mogul Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs.
Yesterday (11), it arose that prosecutors want a juror axed from the jury panel. The motion filed in relation to the juror is sealed, so no details have been mentioned in court.
Daily Mail reported
“Before the jury came in on Tuesday, prosecutors asked the judge to strike juror #6 from the jury. The judge said an unspecified ‘issue’ had come up for the government.
[…] On Wednesday, Diddy’s lawyers ‘vigorously’ objected and accused prosecutors of a ‘Thinly veiled effort to dismiss a black juror’.”
Head prosecutor Maurene Comey replied that the government is faced with ‘what appeared to be a lack of candor with the court that raises serious issues with us.’
Hotel CCTV footage shows Diddy beating Cassie Ventura in a hotel lobby during one of the ‘freak-off’ sex marathons.
“Before cross-examination continued Wednesday of Diddy’s ex-girlfriend, who testified using the pseudonym ‘Jane’, the defense told Judge Arun Subramanian that they’d like to respond to the government’s attempt to dismiss a Black juror from the case. The U.S. Attorney’s Office allegedly told the court that while the situation was less than desirable, they were compelled to because of a lack of candor.”
The judge will rule on the issue of removing a juror once the defense submitted a letter.
Diddy’s lawyers are objecting to the prosecution’s request to remove Juror No. 6 from the case.
“’We object to ask Juror No. 6 being stricken, and I understand the colloquy is under seal, so I don’t want to explain further on the record now, but if the government is going to put in a letter … we’d like the opportunity to be heard either in writing or tomorrow morning’, Diddy attorney Alexandra Shapiro said.
Juror 6 is a Black male, and a ’90s hip-hop fan.
