After 4 long years of being tortured with unimaginable stress, mounting legal bills, and having his name dragged through the mud by so-called state and national “reporters,” 84-year-old U.S. Veteran and 2020 MI GOP Elector, John Haggard, died yesterday shortly after Michigan District Court Judge Kristin D. Simmons dismissed eight felony charges against him and 15 of his fellow electors. Mr. Haggard was reportedly hospitalized with heart issues.
The Charlevoix Republican Party posted the announcement about the tragic passing of John Haggard:
Democrat AG Dana Nessel’s political persecution of these elderly electors has taken an emotional, (likely) physical, and financial toll on all of them. One of the electors reportedly appeared in court yesterday on Zoom from a hospital bed, while Clifford Frost and his wife celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary, all of them knowing that in one moment, the judge’s decision could have destroyed their lives.
The charges, which were brought by Michigan’s toxic Democrat-activist Attorney General Dana Nessel, were finally dismissed by a judge who restored faith in our justice system and became a symbol of hope in a nation so distrustful of judges who rule based on political affiliation and not by the rule of law.

In rendering her decision, the judge explained to the court that it would be “weird” for the electors to pose for a photograph after signing the alternate slate of electoral votes for President Trump if they believed they were committing a crime.

The judge also admonished Dana Nessel’s lead investigator, who bumbled the weak case so badly that the judge was reduced to laughter during the trial. It was also revealed during the case that the AG Investigator Howard Shock sent a warrant to Give Send Go in the middle of the investigation, demanding that they provide the names and routing numbers of the donors who contributed to the fundraiser to help pay their legal bills. Give Send Go boldly denied their request, leaving the AG’s office humiliated over their grotesque attempt to violate the rights of the donors by collecting their names and their banking information.

The photo the judge referred to in her statement can be seen below. It was taken in the basement of the Republican headquarters in Lansing, moments after the slate of alternate votes for Trump was signed. John Haggard can be seen proudly smiling with the other 15 electors in the top row on the left side, wearing a green shirt, a camo hat, and giving a “thumbs up.”
The group image below was used on the electors’ Give Send Go account, where the electors, who are mostly senior citizens, could raise funds to help pay their crippling legal fees. If anyone would like to contribute to the electors’ fundraising account, the fees will be divided equally among 14 electors. One of the electors chose to receive immunity from the MI AG’s office, and another chose to accept legal counsel from a court-appointed attorney. Most of them have been living on fixed incomes. John Haggard’s portion of the funds collected will go to Mr. Haggard’s wife, Phyllis.

MI GOP Elector Cliff Frost’s lawyer, Kevin Kijewski, who the Gateway Pundit has endorsed for Michigan Attorney General in the 2026 election, spoke with local WXYZ News to explain how the electors were following the law when they cast an alternate slate of electoral votes for President Trump in the 2020 election.
I’m proud to join ABC @wxyzdetroit to discuss my successful defense of Cliff Frost against Michigan AG Dana Nessel’s politically motivated charges, exposing her abuse of power to target Republicans. Mr. Kijewski also explained to the WXYZ host how they couldn’t be found guilty of fraud, since they signed their own names, and finally, how there is a legal precedent for electors signing an alternate slate of electoral votes. In his interview, the brilliant lawyer explains how the electors are chosen by their peers in the Republican Party, whom they are elected to represent, meaning they are NOT “fake electors,” as are commonly called by fake news reporters like Craig Mauger of the Detroit News, who after the case was dismissed yesterday, took to “X” to refer to them as “false electors.”
Craig Mauger false electors
Mr. Mauger of the Detroit News is partially responsible for perpetuating the sick lies of Dana Nessel, that the alternative electors were criminals, as he helped the dirty AG’s case against these innocent men and women by adopting her terminology of “Fake electors.” This, of course, was a great way to demonize them in their communities, professional life, and even in some cases, amongst family members, who believed that because they were “fake” or “false” electors, they must have committed the crimes they were accused of committing by Michigan’s activist attorney general.
Shame on Mr. Mauger and any of the other local or national news “reporters” for helping to perpetuate the false narrative that these individuals, such as U.S. veteran John Haggard, who were proud to represent their party, were “fake” or “false” electors. Mr. Haggard at least deserved the respect to NOT be called a “false” elector by Mr. Mauger and others after his name was completely cleared of any wrongdoing by Judge Simmons only moments before he died.
