University of Oklahoma student Samantha Fulnecky, a Christian, received a zero grade from a transgender teaching assistant for not upholding a woke narrative for a paper on gender stereotypes.
Turning Point USA’s OU chapter shared, “For a psychology course at the University Oklahoma, Samantha Fulnecky was asked to write a 650-word essay reacting to an article about how people are perceived based on societal expectations of gender.”
“In her essay, Fulnecky argued that traditional gender roles should not be considered stereotypes. She cited the Bible to support her stance that eliminating gender in society would be “detrimental” because that would put people ‘farther from God’s original plan for humans.’”
“She received zero points out of 25 on the essay. Transgender professor, Mel Curtis, said Ms. Fulnecky, failed to use empirical evidence/and called parts of her essay offensive.”

Curth, who uses she/they pronouns, was removed from the classroom.
Fox News reports that now an unnamed professor has been removed from the classroom for offering to excuse students from class to attend a protest on campus in support of Curth, but did not offer the same benefit to students who wished to “express a counter-viewpoint.”

Last week, the school confirmed that teaching assistant William “Mel” Curth, who uses she/they pronouns, had been removed from the classroom after flunking student Samantha Fulnecky on an essay wherein Fulnecky invoked her Christian beliefs and the Bible.
Now, an assistant teaching professor is accused of viewpoint discrimination stemming from a protest organized to advocate for Curth’s return to the classroom.
The University of Oklahoma released a statement on social media on Friday evening confirming that a professor, whom it did not identify, offered excused absences to students who wished to join a protest in favor of Curth’s reinstatement.
The University released the following statement:
“On Wednesday, a lecturer allegedly demonstrated viewpoint discrimination by excusing students who intended to miss class to attend a protest on campus, but not extending the same benefit to students who intended to miss class to express a counter-viewpoint.”
“Immediately upon learning of the situation, the Director of First- Year Composition told students in class today and by email that the lecturer’s actions were inappropriate and wrong, and that the university classroom exists to teach students how to think, not what to think. The Director further stated that any student, regardless of viewpoint, would be excused if absent from class today to attend the protest without penalty, and that the lecturer had been replaced, effective immediately, for the remainder of the semester.”
“The University of Oklahoma unequivocally supports the decision and swift action taken by the Director of First-Year Composition regarding this matter. Her actions are fully consistent with university policy governing prohibited classroom conduct, and the lecturer has been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation.”
“Classroom instructors have a special obligation to ensure that the classroom is never used to grant preferential treatment based on personal political beliefs, nor to pressure students to adopt particular political or ideological views. ”
