Sgt. William Nathaniel Howard, 29, of Marshalltown, Iowa,(L) and Sgt. Edgar Brian Torres Tovar, 25, of Des Moines, Iowa, (R) were killed Saturday while supporting Operation Inherent Resolve.
President Trump is traveling to Dover Air Force Base in Delaware this afternoon to participate in the dignified transfer of two National Guard troops during an ambush in Syria on Saturday.
The Gateway Pundit reported that multiple American service members were injured during the attack, and two soldiers and a civilian interpreter were killed.
President Trump is scheduled to participate in the dignified transfer at 1:15 pm ET.
During a Fox News appearance on Tuesday, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt slammed the Biden administration’s “dereliction of duty” and credited their failures for the horrific attack that took two American lives over the weekend.
She further confirmed that President Trump will visit Dover Air Force Base today “to meet with the families of the fallen and to receive their bodies here at home.”
WATCH:
Leavitt: I won’t get ahead of the President and our Commander in Chief on any actions that he may take with respect to ISIS in the Middle East in the second term. We know in President Trump’s first term, he completely destroyed and demolished the ISIS caliphate, he took down some of their key top members and leaders, and because of President Trump’s policies in Syria and beyond, the Middle East is growing to be a safer place every day.
If you look at how President Trump has embraced the Syrian President and removed sanctions from that country, and what happened, this absolute tragedy that took place of our soldiers who were killed, that was largely because of the dereliction of duty from the last administration. And it reinforces President Trump’s policy in this country now, embracing a leader who, he as well, is committed to eradicating ISIS. He signed onto a document right here at the White House at the behest of President Trump to join the United States in fighting ISIS in his country. So, that mission will continue.
And tomorrow, unfortunately and very sadly, President Trump will be headed to Dover Air Force Base to meet with the families of the fallen and to receive their bodies here at home.
As The Gateway Pundit reported, the deceased Soldiers are Sgt. William Nathaniel Howard, 29, of Marshalltown, Iowa, and Sgt. Edgar Brian Torrestovar, 25, of Grimes, Iowa.
Both were members of the Ist Squadron, 113th Cavalry Regiment.
Three other Iowa National Guard Soldiers were wounded in the attack.
