Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of NBC’s “Today” show anchor Savannah Guthrie, has been reported missing, and law enforcement described the scene they encountered at her Arizona home as “very concerning.”
Homicide detectives were sent in, which is not standard practice in a missing person case, and Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said that the house is a crime scene.

“She did not leave on her own, we know that,” Nanos said during Sunday’s press conference.

There were volunteers, search-and-rescue teams, dogs, Border Patrol agents, and helicopters deployed in the search on Sunday. They have now been sent home to rest.
“We will call them in again if we need them, but right now we don’t see this as a search mission, but a crime scene,” Nanos said.

Nancy Gutherie was last seen on Saturday night, at around 9:30 p.m., near where she lives in the Catalina Foothills.
She was reported missing on Sunday, around noon, by a relative.
The family told the sheriff’s office that she lives alone, but has no cognitive issues. The sheriff described her as “sharp as a tack” and of “great sound mind.”

The CNN report added:
While the police department gets these types of calls quite often, Nanos said, “this one stood out” due to what was found at the house. The scene was “very concerning,” he added, without elaborating.
The “Today” show led with the news on Monday morning and shared a statement from journalist Savannah Guthrie, who said, “On behalf of our family, I want to thank everyone for the thoughts, prayers and messages of support. Right now, our focus remains on the safe return of our dear mom.”
“We thank law enforcement for their hard work on this case and encourage anyone with information to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department at 520-351-4900.”
“Today” show host Jenna Bush Hager revealed Monday the 84-year-old is without the daily medication she needs to survive.
