Is technology ‘breaking bad’?
Around a month ago, the world was faced with a stunning display of Chinese art and robotics, as a team of droids danced and performed flawless Kung Fu moves in perfect sync during the Lunar New Year celebrations.
This aired tonight to 1 billion people in China. A year ago these robots could barely wave a handkerchief, now they can do backflips and kung fu with nunchucks. Physical intelligence is the next frontier. pic.twitter.com/xFasDuGgRx

But last week, a much less flattering portrait of the new technology was broadcast to the world, as an incident in the streets of the Chinese city of Macau ended with what is arguably the first android ‘arrest’.

The New York Post reported:
“The surreal incident occurred last week in the city of Macau, with the startled 70-year-old ending up in the hospital following her encounter with the 4-foot 4-inch bot.
Two cops escorted the humanoid bot off the busy street. They reportedly reprimanded the man who was operating the android remotely.”
Footage has appeared online of the woman yelling at the Unitree G1 model robot costing $13,500.
“‘You’re making my heart race!’ the woman raged in Cantonese, per a report in the Macau Post. ‘You’ve got plenty to do, so what’s the point of messing around with this? Are you freaking crazy?’”
In the video footage, the bot was seen raising both arms as he was scolded by the woman. Video subsequently shows two police officers taking the robot off the street.
The Macau Post reports that ‘there was no physical contact’ between the woman and the robot. However, she was taken to the hospital, where she was examined and released.”
The First Humanoid Robot Arrested by Police
One night in Macau, a citizen was taking a walk with his humanoid robot (Unitree G1).
A passing woman yelled at him (perhaps frightening her), essentially saying, “Why bother with this when there are so many other things to do?… pic.twitter.com/moCBhsDeRW
