The media is unsurprisingly playing down last night’s heroic rescue of the 2nd F-15 pilot in Iran, even right-leaning outlets.
As The Gateway Pundit previously reported, the second pilot/WSO from the downed F-15 fighter jet on Friday was saved in an on-ground US rescue mission Saturday night, which involved an epic and grueling battle with Iranian forces.
The pilot was successfully rescued and exfiltrated following an intense firefight. He was injured after ejecting himself from the F-15 but is now safe.
Fox News’s Jennifer Griffin revealed that no Americans were killed during the operation. The Fox News journalist additionally noted that different branches of the US military were involved in the rescue.
“It was a very complex operation to retrieve the downed service member,” a well-placed source told Griffin.
But The Daily Mail, a ‘right-leaning’ outlet, posted a tweet that sparked an Internet firestorm, with an angle the Democratic National Committee would envy.
“Trump’s daring extraction of US airman trapped in Iran almost failed and cost dozens of American lives,” the tweet reads.
Below the message is a link to an almost equally vile article.

*Trump’s rescue of US airmen trapped in Iran was a success with no American casualties*
Daily Mail: “It may be a success, but it could have possibly failed and cost American lives!”
You don’t hate the media nearly enough.

You sound more disappointed than the IRGC.

I wonder how embarrassing it must be to walk into work at the Daily Mail. Holy shit!
— BLISTER (@BLISTER_v) April 5, 2026
Wow, this article is just oozing with disappointment that no American lives were lost. FYI, the rescue wasn’t “miraculous” or “frantic.” It was the most lethal fighting force in the world finally being allowed to do their job unrestricted with precision and badassery.

This is a complete lie and full on propaganda. U should be ashamed

No one should be surprised to learn that the author of the article, Tom Lawrence, is a devout Trump-hater.

Team Trump later weighed in, calling the Daily Mail “sick freaks”
You sick freaks. No lives were lost because America’s warfighters are the most powerful, lethal, and precise fighting force ever known to man. God bless our heroes. https://t.co/ujaFXtpsVz
