‘Best Pals’ Mandelson and Epstein go shopping in the Virgin Islands.
Mandelson faces calls from MPs and Epstein victims to resign.
Since failing British Prime Minister Keir Starmer chose Lord Peter Mandelson to be the UK ambassador to the United States, back in December 2024, we have been reporting here on TGP on how the Labour peer’s long and close relationship to the late pedophile and sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein could become a problem.

In January, reports arose of some pushback on the part of the Donald J. Trump administration, who much preferred Dame Karen Pierce as the Washington envoy.
These reports have partially been confirmed since Trump invited Pierce to a state banquet during his upcoming UK state visit – and not Mandelson.

During our reporting, we wondered why it was alright for Mandelson to be given such a prestigious position if another Epstein friend, former Barclays CEO Jes Staley, had been banned for life from working on the British financial markets for misrepresenting his ties to the late sex offender.
And we were not the only ones asking hard questions.

An ‘albatross around his neck’: Epstein and Mandelson.
As we fully anticipated, Mandelson’s close ties to Jeffey Epstein have finally come under heavy scrutiny, after the letter in which he described the financier as his ‘best pal’ was made public by the House Oversight Committee on Monday (8) night, as part of the material received from the Epstein estate.
And information resurfaced that Epstein brokered a deal between Lord Mandelson – then business secretary – and Jes Staley, then a top Executive at JPMorgan.
The billion-pound sale of a UK taxpayer-owned banking business to America’s biggest bank happened after Epstein had been convicted of child sex offences,
‘Surely the Prime Minister knew about these issues before appointing Peter Mandelson.’

The Telegraph reported:
“Sempra Commodities, a joint venture between the taxpayer-owned Royal Bank of Scotland and Sempra Energy, was sold to JP Morgan in a deal on which Epstein gave advice to both Lord Mandelson and to Jes Staley, a senior executive with JP Morgan who has since been banned from the City over his relationship with the disgraced financier.”

Tories are demanding an investigation into Mandelson’s friendship commercial dealings with Epstein, and want to know if Epstein profited from the deal.
“Privately, some Labour MPs are also calling for Lord Mandelson to resign because of the potential damage done to the UK’s reputation in America.
Victims of the convicted pedophile have demanded Lord Mandelson be sacked as British ambassador to the US, a position he has held since February this year. They have also questioned Sir Keir Starmer’s decision to appoint him to the post at a time when Epstein’s friendship with Lord Mandelson was well documented.”

Mandelson and Epstein remained friends for almost two decades, even after Epstein was convicted for a child sex offence in 2008.
“In his letter to Epstein, Lord Mandelson said: ‘Once upon a time, an intelligent, sharp-witted man they call ’mysterious’ parachuted into my life.’ On another page, beside a picture of Little St James, the peer wrote about Epstein entertaining ‘in one of his glorious homes he likes to share with his friends (yum yum)’. It concluded: ‘But wherever he is in the world, he remains my best pal! Happy Birthday Jeffrey. We love you!!’
Sarah Ransome, 41, one of Epstein’s British victims, told The Telegraph: ‘Something is really, really wrong here. Peter Mandelson should not be ambassador. He needs to be fired. He is unsuitable to be ambassador’.”
