RINO Congressman Don Bacon has admitted he almost resigned from Congress in protest of President Trump’s Ukraine peace plan.
Last week, the White House unveiled a 28-point peace plan that would provide Ukraine with long-term security guarantees, access to European markets, and reconstruction funds.
Meanwhile, the agreement would enshrine some of Russia’s territorial gains and guarantee that Ukraine will never join NATO, as well as capping the size of its military to 600,000.
Speaking with Axios, Bacon said that he was appalled by the proposal and has seriously considered giving up on politics altogether:
Their report states:
Bacon told Axios he was “so angry” at the Trump administration’s proposed 28-point Russia-Ukraine peace plan last week that he “thought about” resigning early.
The centrist foreign policy hawk, a staunch supporter of Ukraine, has already announced he plans to retire in 2027 rather than seek another term.
He dubbed the proposal the “Witkoff Ukrainian surrender plan,” referring to Trump’s Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff, who helped craft it.
But “in the end I have a commitment to our constituents to fulfill my term,” Bacon said, adding that he “shared my anger” with House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) but “didn’t mention resignation.”
Bacon is widely considered one of the few remaining House RINO’s.
He is notorious for siding with Democrats on numerous issues, most recently killling an effort to censure New Jersey Rep. LaMonica McIver after she assaulted and verbally used hardworking ICE agents.

He has also repeatedly criticized the policies of the Trump administration. Back in April, he called for the firing of Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth over the leak of a classified Signal chat.
After announcing his plans to not seek re-election, Bacon complained that the cushy life of a U.S. Congressman was simply too much to handle.
“Some like to spin my retirement from Congress to fit their own wishes,” he wrote at the time. “I’m retiring from Congress in 2027 to spend more time with family [and] home.
”I don’t want to do 14-hour days & DC 4 days a week anymore, which is what it takes to win this purple seat.”
