President Trump on Thursday slammed Fed Chair Jerome Powell during a bilateral Oval Office meeting with Japan’s new Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi.
PM Takaichi and President Trump are meeting on Thursday to discuss energy costs and efforts to secure the Strait of Hormuz.
A reporter asked President Trump about inflation and the economy after the Federal Reserve voted to keep interest rates steady.
President Trump slammed Fed Chairman Jerome Powell.
“He’s stubborn and he’s got Trump Derangement Syndrome, but a lot of people have that you know, it’s not a curable disease,” Trump said.
“He should be lowering rates immediately. But he won’t do that because he’s a stubborn, incompetent person.”

The Federal Reserve on Wednesday left interest rates unchanged.
The Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) voted 11-1 to keep interest rates steady at 3.5% to 3.75%.
Stephan Miran, the Trump-appointed member of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors, was the lone dissenting vote.
Miran was in favor of cutting interest rates 25 basis points – or 0.25%.
Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell held a news conference after the FOMC voted to keep rates steady.
“The US economy has been expanding at a solid pace. While job gains have remained low, the unemployment rate has been little changed in recent months and inflation remains somewhat elevated,” Powell said.
