President Donald Trump dropped a bombshell on Monday, signaling what could be a historic shift in the Middle East while delivering a stark warning to the Iranian regime: no nukes — or else.
On Monday morning, President Trump wrote on Truth Social that the U.S. had “very good and productive conversations” with Iran.
In the post, the 47th President stated, “I am pleased to report that the United States of America and the country of Iran have had, over the last two days, very good and productive conversations regarding a complete and total resolution of our hostilities in the Middle East.”
He added, “I have instructed the Department of War to postpone any and all military strikes against Iranian power plants and energy infrastructure for a five-day period.”
Several Iranian state media outlets have since denied having any talks with the Trump administration and cited quotes from the Foreign Ministry in Tehran.
In response to Iranian media reports denying that the talks took place, Trump told Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo that he was unsure what Iran’s media was talking about, and that conversations did take place last night between Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner with Iranian representatives.
Bartiromo: “I just spoke with President Trump and he told me that Iran wants to make a deal badly … he said the most recent talks happened last night with Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner and their counterparts. With Iranian TV saying no talks have happened, the president said it’s hard to get information there because the US is blowing up so much of their infrastructure”
On his way to Memphis, Trump revealed that ongoing negotiations with Iran have reached a critical stage, with Tehran allegedly agreeing to abandon its nuclear ambitions.
Trump also revealed the U.S. would physically take control of Iran’s stockpile of enriched uranium, the “nuclear dust” that could have fueled a bomb.
Iran International reported:
Trump said the central condition of any agreement would be that Iran abandon its nuclear program.
“They’re not going to have nuclear weapons anymore. They’re agreeing to that,” he said.
He added that if a deal is reached, the United States would take control of Iran’s enriched uranium. “We’ll go down and we’ll take it ourselves,” he said.
Trump also said he believed recent US military strikes had significantly set back Iran’s nuclear capabilities, warning that without such action Tehran could have developed a weapon within weeks.
“If we didn’t hit them … they would have had a nuclear weapon within two weeks to a month,” he said.

The president said he supported allowing Iranian oil already at sea to enter global markets, arguing that increasing supply would help stabilize the system.
“I just want to have as much oil in the system as possible,” Trump said, adding it was unclear how much revenue Iran would ultimately receive.
“Any small amount of money that Iran gets is not going to have any difference in this war,” he said.
President Trump outlined Washington’s terms for any breakthrough: Iran must permanently forgo nuclear weapons, halt uranium enrichment, curb its missile program, and surrender its existing stockpile of enriched material.
