A young man from Texas with all the potential in the world had his life forever changed by a few demented thugs.
As WFAA reported on Friday, 18-year-old Seth Jackson, a senior at Richardson High School, was just outside a local Waffle House when he noticed a friend who was being attacked by a group of criminals in front of a group of teens.
But before Jackson could reach his comrade, a currently unknown perpetrator started firing shots at him. The shots from the gun sent the crowd scrambling in terror.
Some of the bullets struck Jackson, and he ended up suffering several injuries. These include a ruptured lung and aorta, fractured ribs, and a shattered spinal cord.
Worse, Jackson is now permanently paralyzed—a truly horrible ordeal, particularly for a dedicated athlete.
WFAA reports that two people connected to the shooting are in custody. Police have identified them as 17-year-old Charles Webster and 18-year-old Taylor Griffin.
Both have been charged with engaging in organized criminal activity.

Jackson’s shooter, however, remains at large.
James Jackson, Seth’s father, spoke to WFAA regarding the incident. He explained that while his son is now out of intensive care, he has already gone through three surgeries and remains hospitalized.
The road ahead for Seth is long and uncertain.
“Our number one concern is that he survives it,” James Jackson told WFAA. “We’ll figure out the changes we need to make.”
“It’s every parent’s nightmare,” he added.
He was also puzzled as to why anyone would want to harm his son.
“Why would this guy shoot my son?” James Jackson said.
A family friend of the Jacksons has set up a fundraiser to help finance Seth’s rehabilitation. It has raised 79K as of this writing.
