AI-Generated Image by Grok – Alberta Premiere Danielle Smityh announced October Referendum
Let the people decide.
We have been following here on TGP the effort by separatists in the Canadian province of Alberta.
The oil-rich region has had enough of woke Canada’s Globalist policies, and gathered hundreds of thousands of signatures on the petition to hold a referendum on independence.
After indigenous groups managed to block the process on Canadian courts, now it arises that Alberta will hold a referendum on whether the province should remain in Canada or else move ahead with a second – binding – vote on separation.

BBC reported:
“Thursday’s announcement by Premier Danielle Smith comes after a citizen-led petition calling for separation gathered more than 300,000 signatures early this year and a separate petition advocating for Alberta to stay gathered more than 400,000.
A restive independence movement has been growing in the oil-rich province, built on a long-held sense that Alberta is overlooked by decision-makers in Ottawa.”

The Premier announced the provincial referendum for 19 October.
“Smith, in a televised address, said the question being put to Albertans this coming autumn will be: ‘Should Alberta remain a province of Canada or should the Government of Alberta commence the legal process required under the Canadian Constitution to hold a binding provincial referendum on whether or not Alberta should separate from Canada?’”

Politico reported:
“’It’s time to have a vote, understand the will of Albertans on this subject, and move on’,” Smith said in a televised address on Thursday evening. The vote will take place Oct. 19.
The announcement marks an escalation of separatist tensions in the oil-rich and staunchly conservative province, a flashpoint that will test Prime Minister Mark Carney’s leadership as Ottawa is forced to respond to a growing national unity crisis.
[…] Despite polls showing most Albertans want to remain in Canada, the issue has become increasingly difficult for Smith to contain. The premier has been forced to publicly defend national unity while navigating concerns that some members of her own caucus sympathize with separatist sentiment.
‘The position of the UCP caucus and UCP government is to build a strong and sovereign Alberta within the United Canada’, Smith said. ‘I will therefore be voting for Alberta to remain in Canada, while continuing to work each and every day to restore and strengthen provincial rights under the Canadian Constitution’.”
HUGE: The House of Commons just confirmed it.
An Alberta independence referendum does not need 60% or 66%.
The threshold is 50% + 1.
